Meadow Clary – Salvia pratensis

Meadow Clary (Salvia pratensis) is a stately native sage with purple-blue flower spikes on sturdy upright stems. It grows naturally on sunny, calcareous grasslands and attracts crowds of insects, including stone bumblebees and long-horned bees. Its vertical bloom and natural appearance make it both a garden showpiece and a key contributor to biodiversity. Best on dry, calcareous, nutrient-poor soils in full sun with little competition. Short-lived perennial that self-seeds reliably.
